They thought they were only doing their bit.
In an effort to remind landlords of their obligations regarding fire and safety, London agent Portico put together a short video.
Using, as they thought, a bit of humour to get the messages across.
However, the London Fire Brigade press office certainly did not see the funny side.
It has declined to endorse the video.
According to a spokesperson for Portico, the fire service called it “sexist”.

The world is full of politically correct idiots. This video is not in my view sexist. If this is sexist what does that make Strictly Come Dancing? You do not need to show the true horror of fires to get across the general safety message, which this video does well without boring it viewers. OK so LFB don’t approve, so what? It is better landlords and tenants see this rather than nothing.

I thought it was professional and fun and was informative. The fire brigade should be raising an agent like this.
Whenever it comes to safety the authorities do like to go at it with a straight face and stiff upper lip. I liked the idea of the video but it just looks a bit childish. maybe concentrate on the message being delivered next time and not how attractive the actors/actresses are???
Really! Come on guys, it’s engaging, fun and gets the message across. Of course fire is serious, but that does not mean that everything associated with fire safety needs to be the heavy duty boring compliance stuff that switches most people off. And the PR aspect for Portico is great – I’d certainly retweet it, albeit under the mischievous title “Is this sexist?”
Sexist how? If she had raised her eyebrows at a female gas safety worker would that of been better, or would that of been another type of ist or ism.

Get a grip. It’s just meant to be a bit of fun whilst getting a message accross and that’s the best way to it, even if it was a bit rubbish.
Shame the really good safety messages were spoiled by a lack of understanding of the horrors of fire. Not surprised the fire service took a dim view really. They encounter horrific scenes that will render it very difficult for them to see anything funny at all about fire
My step son moved into a rntal on Friday. The agent still hasn’t checked the smoke detector and the inventory clerk said it wasn’t her role.
