We’re here! Property Industry Eye launched this week as a daily news service for the estate and letting agent industry. We have been overwhelmed by your comments and are very grateful for your support. Please continue to spread the word!
At its helm is myself, Rosalind Renshaw, as editor, with Nick Salmon as managing director and John Brassington our third director. You can read more in the ‘about us’ section.
Our aims are simple: to provide a genuinely independent and authoritative news service for agents. Editorial is totally independent of advertising and will always remain so.
We also plan to run an uncluttered site, which means keeping the volume of advertising down and not allowing flashing banner adverts.
We have built the site very quickly because we sensed an urgent need in the market to provide this type of impartial and trustworthy industry news. Some people may find it a bit too plain, but we have concentrated on making it functional and easy to use.
Improvements will follow and these will ideally be ones that readers suggest.
You can visit the site daily or, better still, simply sign up and have the news delivered each morning to your own inbox. It is completely free and will remain so.
One important house rule is that we will only allow readers to comment on stories if they are signed up. This allows us to check that comments are from recognised, legitimate email addresses, although readers are able to choose their own user names.
We hope you will welcome this house rule, as it is intended to put a stop to just anyone posting a comment, using a false (or even no) email address, and perhaps even passing themselves off as someone else.
As a new site, there are bound to be some IT glitches for which I apologise in advance.
I also know that as editor I am not going to get everything right, and I am perfectly happy for readers to correct me and put their own points of view.
Finally, I should say that this is a pro-agent news service: after all, why write about an industry if you don’t like it? We believe that the vast majority of agents are hard-working and honest, and have an ethical business model.
However, we will be exposing bad practice and rogues, and also reporting on challenges that the industry faces, whether these are legal or come from one of the several new online ventures in the offing. Please do not think that when we mention an online venture, we are expressing any opinion: we leave opinions to our readers. We are merely the messenger, not a promotions service.
Do get in touch with your news and views. My email address and phone number are in the ‘contact us’ section and I very much look forward to being in touch with you.

Congratulations on the new site, I am sure it will be a great site and we can now get some sensible industry news, well done! Steve
Many thanks steveg. Please tell your friends and colleagues!
Hi Nick, have you considered providing a link for readers to enter colleagues’ email addresses to forward a link to your site? If those contacts later register, the introducer could go in a monthly prize drawer for the ipad mini. This could accelerate growth of your excellent site.
Or a simple ‘Forward to’ button might help.
Best wishes
Lance
Good idea Lance. Thank you. It’s on the Wish List now.
Well, the articles seem better on here straightaway. I know what you mean about the site looking ‘plain’, I think the simple format is best, maybe just needs some colour? The flashing ads are certainly not missed!
Although I did like the private messaging feature of EAT, I’m looking forward to the proper articles, not always serious, but proper non-advertisement articles about things we might want to read about.
Glad you like it CountryLass. We’ll shall put the private messaging idea on our ‘wish list’ for possible inclusion as a feature of the site later down the line.
Welcome to “The Dark Side”, my dear! ;o)
The Dark Side is always the most fun!
Wondered where Ros was going to pop up! Best wishes and I’ve already added my comment on one of the articles – Harry Hill’s sure to be reading it now 😉
Best news I have had all week. Thank you Ros for again showing us what a formidable journalist you are. Well deserved support from everyone this morning.
It would be great to have a site for agents, such as this, where the main element is providing up-to-date news of relevance, including changes in rules and regulations, to keep us all informed.
A clean site with reporting in an unbiased manner will definitely succeed!
Best wishes for the future and I look forward to learning from all and engaging on here!
Regards

(JAM01)
Thanks John. We shall do our best to fulfill those desirable aims.
All of the above!!!
A suggestion: How about the ability to “like” a comment that has been posted?
Good thought MF. We are collecting a ‘wish list’ of ideas that we shall consider for the next phase of the site development. Will add this idea to it. Thank you.
Well…….today I read EVERY ARTICLE on this site !!! Say no more …..EAT is now totally useless since the change of editor…….scan down the articles…..finished ! I’ll now unsubscribe to EAT as this site provides REAL AND USEFUL INFORMATION……not rubbish…..well done and good luck to you all.
Thank you billyboy. Glad you like our site.
Very much looking forward to all the news items this site will generate in the weeks and months to come. Congratulations and good luck in the future.
Alan Frost. Thanks for the good wishes.
At last. A slice of high energy, low calorie P.I.E. to tuck into every day. Welcome back Ros. You have been sorely missed.
PRman. Delighted to provide you with a healthy news option!
Welcome back Ros! We look forward to intelligent and insightful articles once again!
Thanks for the comment Nigel. We trust you will enjoy Ros’ writing.
Thanks Paul H. Ros is delighted to be back!
Congratulations on the new site, clearly you guys have your eye on the ball in spotting that such a site was required!
Welcome back Roz!
I shall certainly spread the word,
Congratulations on the new site – clear, crisp content – it looks great. Good luck with it!
Thank you Emma. Glad to hear we meet with approval. Please spread the word.
So good to have Ros back.
I have had a number of emails asking me to re-register for the “all new” (singing and dancing?) LAT and EAT, but with Ros gone they have lost their appeal. It is like eating fish and chips without salt and vinegar – just not right!
Thanks Elbee. We’ll make sure the salt and vinegar are always on the news table.
thankfully your site is much calmer on the eyes than the Cbeebies version of on the other side…
CPestateagentesq we are glad to see you like the layout. Thank you.
Congratulations on the launch, looking good 🙂
Thank you Hound. We’re trying hard!
Apologies for not including your goodself from the above list of ‘the Great and Good’, Hound (although you were, of course, one of ‘the many’ I referred to)… ;o)
I’m happy to be ‘one of the many’ Peebee, never considered myself to be Great, and I’m too long in the tooth to be good (at least some of the time!) 🙂
Congratulations All! Looking good…
Great team – I wish you all the success you deserve.
Lovely to see you on here Julia. Thanks for the encouraging post!
Congratulations on the site – nice to see it so uncluttered leaving the news to take centre stage. Good luck with the new venture!
Thanks for the congrats and good wishes!
Hopefuly not long before Jonnie, AceofSpades, Ray Evans, CountryLass, rantnrave & Sibley’s… (yes – even certain HPCers would be welcomed for the craic) and the many who Ros’ previous work inspired to post thousands of insighthful or plain daft (I want credit for SOMETHING) comments and debates over the years will find their way over here.
Mr RR? Awww – what the H£ll – the site wouldn’t be the same without his… erm… well – it just wouldn’t! ;o)
Congratulations on the launch. Well done!
Thanks Wardy. Hope you enjoy the new site.
Nick – that’s wardy and wilko with a ‘w’ – NOT a ‘W’.
They’ll get upset if you don’t get their names right! ;o)
I stand corrected and apologise unreservedly to them 🙂
LOL!
Can I just say, Nick, that it’s refreshing to actually have some interaction with ‘The Management’.
Certain ‘others’ simply hide in the shadows that THEY create themselves! ;o)
Hello All,
Huge sigh of relief that there is a new paper for the industry after the demise of EAT.
The issues just need reporting in a balanced way…I’m sure the contributers will add a lively debate ….. no need for personal attacks or opinions from writers/reporters…..we’ll do that!
Thanks for finding us Wilko. We look forward to giving the industry a forum for comment on the news. Do spread the word please!
Well done the site looks clean and simple and I look forward to reading unbiased articles again.
Thanks Clinton.
PeeBee and mrdavidcarlisle thank you for your kind comments. We are jolly proud to have Ros as our editor. Do please spread the word that she is back.
Nick – I would say it’s the best ‘take-on’ you could possibly wish for.
If Ros was a property, she would be Grade I* Listed.
A National Landmark. :o)
YAAAAAYYYY!!!
I made “Comment of the week” with this one!! ;o)
Recognition at last…
Excellent looking site guys, looks really clean and modern. Viva la Renshaw.
WELCOME BACK, Ms Renshaw!
Professional property journalism has returned to our screens ;o)
Glad to have you on board IHS. Do let others know we are here.
Hate the new look LAT and EAT – find them difficult to navigate and very few stories of interest. Welcome back Ros.
congratulations to you all! I look forward to reading articles with a bit of serious content!!!!
Well done to all the team at Property Industry Eye
Thanks iam-jamie. We’ll do our best to bring you serious news – and some lighthearted articles from time to time!
The site is immediately visually impressive and I am sure that the content will be to match. Congratulations from all at VTUK on your exciting new venture and be assured o our fullest support – Peter
VTUK. Thanks for your comments and good wishes. We appreciate it.
I too hope that the site works and is a resounding success but come on, ‘Visually Impressive’, are you kidding? They have stated that the polished finish is yet to come so even they appreciate it’s a bit lacking at present.
Many thanks Richard. We think ‘quality’ beats ‘quantity’ when it comes to layout of ads. Glad to have your support. Do spread the word.
Great news. I’m really looking forward to the new “independent” news site and delighted to hear about the lack of adverts. All we need is a nice plain informative site and it looks as though that is what the “eye” will be. Congratulations and best wishes.
Thank you Ajax. We look forward to your comments here on EYE.
I used to comment on another site. How refreshing this clean, clear, news-driven site is. It deserves to succeed.
Will the last person to leave the EAT sites please switch off the flashing lights.
Hi Lance
Thanks for the good wishes.
You can use any user name you wish when you register but you must give a genuine email address so you receive the confirmation/activation of the registration. The email will not be published.
Hope this helps.
Congratulations on your launch and thanks. Since Rosalind left another news service there has been a lack of good stories so I subscribed here immediately.
Will it ever be possible to comment and withhold my name if I need to?
Best wishes with your new venture.
Lance
