Rightmove pulled a listing yesterday after an EYE reader raised concerns that it appeared to show an email address for the seller.
The property was a plot of land in a “sort after area” being marketed by online agent Doorsteps, which charges sellers from £99.
After EYE contacted Rightmove, a spokesperson quickly told us: “We’ve spoken to this agent and the listing has been removed until it adheres to our terms and conditions.”
Rightmove only allows agents’ listings.

So what’s the difference with FSBO by an on-line only agent who “only lists”, leaving the vendor to do everything. Oh they take a telephone call to make viewing, that the vendor then arranges.
A clear case of window dressing, how can: i move home promote private listings on Rightmove and Zoopla,
Providing you pay you can list.
Here is another:

Rightmove need to change their policy.
Separate new homes section.
No pay any way agents .
Along with separate retirement homes section.
I have emailed Henry Peter’s to see if he needs help with his land sale 😉
Have doorsteps breached GDPR by giving clients data to the public??
>Have doorsteps breached GDPR by giving clients data to the public??
I think the implication is that it’s a private listing in which case “no”.
Depends on who supplied the personal information Ducky, as the data was listed by Doorsteps.
You suddenly have become an expert in all things estate agency and law. And not a single qualification or hands on experience!
>Depends on who supplied the personal information Ducky, as the data was listed by Doorsteps.
Let me repeat my comment. Read it carefully…
“I think the implication is that it’s a private listing in which case “no”.”
The title “Rightmove withdraws listing after concerns over ‘private’ seller” and comment “Rightmove only allow Agent’s listings” in the article implies it’s a private listing does it not?
I do have experience in matters of law including data protection law. This law is not specific to Estate Agency so the fact I don’t have any experience of being an Estate Agent is irrelevant. I know a fair bit about Estate Agency too. It’s not rocket science as demonstrated by the low barrier to entry.
Reading statute is just a matter of comprehension so I think I’m entitled to an opinion. Quite happy to explain this to you as well after having to help you out the other day over something or other.
Oh yes, you were incorrectly thinking that the law relating to unfair consumer contracts would be ignored by a Judge 🙂
Ah ah, off we go again, caught with your pants down as usual. Sling some mud and no your are definitely wrong. That is precisely what a judge will say, “you signed the contract” when unfair terms and conditions are claimed. Misrepresenting the dicussion to your own end when I asked what evidence that the law had been broken, not that there was no law. I have been present more times than you could care to imagine and not as an estate agent. What professional qualification do you have in estate agency and law, that was my question. You confirm you have none, yet you are the oracle on the subject from your limited and naïve experience and prejudice!!!! going on google.
Pray tell who divulged the data, the private seller or the contracted agent Doorsteps?
You may apologise at anytime.
I now know who the Duck is, its that bloke that’s always in the pub, who knows everything, an expert on everything but not qualified or experienced enough to know anything.
He’s better known by his catchphrase ‘only meeee’. (Harry Enfield reference for those too young to understand)
‘I know a fair bit about Estate Agency too‘
Funniest comment of the year so far.
” ….the fact I don’t have any experience of being an Estate Agent is irrelevant”.
That comment is going to come back to haunt him.
