A new estate and letting agency franchise is being launched.
Called Monopoly Buy Sell Rent, the business was originally started by managing director Simon Evans in 2013 and has operated two branches, in Wrexham and north Wales. It is only now that franchises are being offered.
The model has been developed by a specialist business brokerage and franchise development firm, Transworld Business Advisors, an American business which started in Florida and expanded into the UK last year.
The model offered to franchisees is a ‘hybrid’ agency.
Franchisees will need a total investment of £19,950 – covering the actual franchisee fee of £9,950 and £10,000 for marketing.
Franchisees will be offered a loan at 6% to cover the costs plus additional working capital, up to £25,000.
Transworld, which is itself a franchise organisation that helps people buy, sell and franchise their businesses, is hoping to recruit ten estate agency franchisees this year.
Paul Mitchell, managing director at Transworld Business Advisors, said: “This estate agency franchise neatly fills the void between the high overhead traditional high street estate agent and the no-frills online model. We think this is a fantastic option for those interested in a property franchise.”
Monopoly Buy Sell Rent is holding an informal discovery event on Friday, January 20, at the Hilton Olympia. To reserve a space, email: pmitchell@tworld.com

Clearly not that experienced; they are advertising fees plus VAT on their website.
The ‘new’ concept seems to be one of hood winking the customer.
As you all know a response to these articles should be
A: insightful
B: Intelligent
C: Relevant.
So here goes:
Does my bum look big in these trousers ?
or is the £20K sticking out of my back pocket making them (the trous) look bulky?
Then again, I do have a fat behind !!!
Love the bloke’s bio:
‘Simon is an experienced estate agency who loves meeting and chatting to clients in their homes.’
He is also a pretty cr@p proof-reader, apparently…
The landing page asks
DO YOU HAVE:
* lots of energy, enthusiasm and time
* a laptop and a printer
* a mobile phone
to which, if you tick all three boxes, you are told
YOU COULD BE A SUCCESSFUL ESTATE AGENT
The lunatics have not only taken over the asylum – they’re wearing the white coats and dishing out the meds.
Someone please rescue me from whatever it is that this industry is allowing itself to be reduced to.
I can’t even think of an appropriate adjective, metaphor – or even jokey moniker.
Best of luck to them.
Just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it ?
no one outside a small welsh village would take a company with a name like that seriously. go straight to jail do not pass go…..
I live in a small Welsh village and I dont take it seriously We are cutting edge over here . The first Telex machine arrived last week Its being hooked up at Gwynfor,s garage who apart from having a few properrty details scellotaped in the window next to the pictureof Snuffles champion Welsh pig he also doubles up with Emyr the local undertaker trading as Doom and Gloom

If you have lots of enthusiasm, energy and time plus a laptop, printer and mobile phone you can be an estate agent.
That gave me the biggest laugh I’ve had in a long time.
Online agents summed up in one line.
Apologies, AgentPink92 – I wasn’t trying to steal your thunder with my post below… I genuinely hadn’t seen yours!
If that website encourages anyone to actually enquire and part with £20k I’d be shocked, nothing new, certainly nothing exciting. Atleast PB and some of the new players have invested heavily in technology to actually reduce some of the cheap admin work! The fact is the high street office isn’t the overhead that is so expensive, it’s the quality of the staff you employ that take your clients through the process.
£20,000 for a bandwagon anyone?
No thanks.
123430 How I laughed. Exactly my sentiment and in exactly the same words!
