A couple have launched a prize draw featuring their property.

Nothing unusual there.

We’ve covered a number of stories over the years where home owners decide to go the prize draw route rather than use estate agents – although we have never once been able to cover a success story.

However, the latest prize draw property is a bit different as it’s a 14-bedroom hotel.

There’s also, for want of a better word, a bit of a drawback: draw tickets cost £1,000 each.

Furthermore, if not enough tickets sell, the money will be returned but minus admin costs of up to 20%.

Gordon and Blossom Hoyles, who have appeared in the C4 show ‘Four in a Bed’, own the Hotel Continental in Harwich, Essex, and first announced their intention to run a draw last autumn.

It seems to have taken a bit longer than they thought to iron out the legal details.

Gordon, an artist and poet, said of the decision to bypass agents: “We have been told that it could take up to two years to find a buyer and we don’t have that much time to wait.

“We’re hoping the draw can take place 100 days from the start date on May 1, 2015.”
