A former marketing manager at Rightmove has been taken on by Robert May’s Rummage business amid growing speculation as to whether it could be the new Rightmove, and what it will mean for the industry.

Suzanne Deakins said that specific details on the Rummage4Property project are not yet available, but that the “as yet undisclosed solution will offer agents and developers a level playing field for winning instructions and promoting both properties and brands at a hyper-local level”.

Deakins, who was one of Rightmove’s first employees, was responsible for all marketing at the portal, and was there for almost six years. She then joined the Guardian Media Group’s property services business as head of group marketing, again staying almost six years. After its sale to Zoopla, she promoted the software acquisitions, including Vebra, Core and CFP.

As head of marketing in her new role, she joins Russell King, formerly of Zoopla and CFP, in the run-up to what she says will be “an industry restorer”.
