Rummage4property has announced another senior appointment to the team in the build up to launch by the Robert May firm which aims to supply a lot more property information to consumers while offering agents a cheaper alternative to portals and again, so we understand, vastly more information.
We can now unmask PeeBee – well known for his ankle-biting activities in the EYE community – as estate agent Paul Barker.
In his new role, he will be managing major accounts and is moving from his current position at Rickard Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents to bring over four decades of property industry experience at director level to the start-up.
Barker’s experience includes the management and development of high street sales and lettings agencies and positions with independent and national corporate land and new-build property management companies.
May has not yet announced a date for the launch but says that rummage4property “will provide a low cost, industry owned digital service to professional estate agents and new homes developers, focusing on enhancing local brand presence and success”.
May has also registered a second rummage business, this time to do with utilities, at Companies House.
Rummage4property has made some high level recruits so far, including that of chairman Peter Andrew, who is also deputy chairman of developers’ trade body the Home Builders Federation.
The biggest appointment, set to run the company, is understood to be a very well known industry figure from the City.
May’s enterprise seems to have enthusiastic backing from agents.

Not heard nuffink from Dom and Ducky for ages, what does rummage4 do to get the likes of these 2 so worked up?
Exist!
How’s this service meant to work?
Is it live to the public?
its very buggy.
thanks
New here doofus aren’t you?
So the first reply I get from a ‘property pundit’ or estate agent is abusive – not an encouraging start – shame on you !
Anyone else like to fill me in with how this new service is meant to work?
I’ve tried the 3 search boxes and get brought to google.
Is it in beta or not launched yet?
thanks
The stuff that is currently public isn’t the product. The current Rummage4.property site is up so the search engines know we exist. We have published a small something that we use in demonstrations to show how the current portals (and Google) control search for the majority of end users who don’t know how to do advanced search.
The current keyword search that has recently been introduced to Rightmove is a move ward off the changes we will force on the portals.
When you write ‘its very buggy‘ about something you haven’t the first inkling about, that’s what qualifies you as a doofus and, believe me, I was being polite.
‘Something you haven’t the first inkling about’, On the contrary I’m an investor in over 20 technology companies including proptech and fintechs. ‘Property Pundit’, you’re just plain rude. You’re setting a poor example for an industry that is in disruption mode, like it or not.
Robert. I’m interested to learn more. Are you planning a funding round? When do you plan to launch to the public and what are your key differentiators and routes to market?
Sorry for the delayed reply disruptor, I am happy to have a conversation but not in open forum; sadly I have an obsessive stalker who discourages me from posting as openly as I would like. The information you are requesting of interest to others too.
Sure not a problem. I’ll reach out via your website contact form.
Good luck with developments!
Best wishes to the growing team- Here’s very interested in what the team will offer Agency…
Thank you, Ertp12.
Congratulations Peebee. I am big fan of Rummage4 and what Robert is creating so I’m sure we’ll meet sometime soon no doubt.
Thank you, Mr Head_Shepherd#2.
No doubt our first meeting will be… interesting.
I think what is blatantly obvious is that a team of good people with the best interests of the industry, and the people that work within it, at heart is being put together.
That’s a lot different to a proposition purely to make the most amount of money it can, at whatever cost, for it’s founders.
Well done to everyone involved in rummage4.
That person that down-thumbed this post, just imagine the jealousy surging through their veins. Pitiful.
Thanks, AV ;o)
Congratulations PeeBee a well earnt new role.
Our industry is at war on many fronts from public companies that have/are using our money and other peoples money to carve up the sector that we are passionate about.
This will hugely benefit those few decision makers at the expense of the masses.
How anticompetitive is this?
The independent sector, therefore, needs to unite to defend and better highlight our full-service proposition, paid for only on completion of the deal, and better protect client’s data from third-party misuse and eye-watering, poorly serviced, referral fees and additional add-on services drawn from loss leading agency fees.
Divided we fall.
Robert May, Chris Wood, PeeBee and others have shown their unpaid passion, tenacity, and commitment to our industry and now require our support for a cost-effective solution before it is too late.
As Churchill once said: “Sometimes doing your best is not good enough. Sometimes you must do what is required.”
Thank you sincerely <blushingly>
Great bloke, great appointment Congrats Paul (and yes I know him)
Thank you. You have me at a disadvantage in terms of knowing who’s who – but whichever ‘Mark’ you are I appreciate your Wordz ;o)
Anybody that can get right up the noses (or beak in one case) of the thinly veiled PB trolls so routinely and with such panache gets my vote, all the best Pee Bee.
Thankee, Sai (credit: Stephen King)
Congratulations PeeBee and Robert.
The industry is a better place for you in it.
You’re welcome, DP/CD.
Hearty thanks, Mr W!
For me, and no doubt many others, having PeeBee on board adds credibility for those real agents who can smell the b*llsh*t.
When I find out more about the HooHah Product/Service/Thingy? …….I sincerely hope it is a “game changer” for Our Industry.
My email inbox awaits more info…..
Cheers for that, GPL.
Did you get my email?
Congratulations PeeBee. I’m sure I speak for all agents when I say we’re looking forward to discovering exactly what R4P is and how it can help our industry.
Thank you, Shaun77.
Congratulations PeeBee.
Duck & Dom – get back in your cage!
Thank you.
Don’t put them in a cage together – you never know what could be born as a result.
I’m genuinely excited to see exactly what Robert is going to be doing. He’s been kind enough to share some bits as he’s gone along and for someone who’s quietly got on and done what he does, both now and in the past – and I don’t think many are quite aware of his past achievements [the words light and bushel come to mind] – it’s good to see him shuffling into the daylight. Nice to see PeeBee coming out into the light too – best of luck to the venture.
Good luck to all proper Estate Agents in whatever we do!
(NOT the call centre/pay anyway/hidden fee pedaling/list and run/massive referral fee receiving/pay extra for viewings “agents”)
Thanks, everyone, for your comments. And I mean everyone.
Not sure whether ducky or dom-boy take pole position… or whether Honest_bloke has just raced into the lead. Let’s see if someone else can trump the lot of them with a real humdinger – I can only hope.
Watching with interest…
>Watching with interest…
Here’s one for you…
How do you reconcile your comment “the majority of agents are @rseholes – and that’s me being polite.” with your new position?
All your comments as PeeBee via social media are now there to embarrass those in your new company.
You also have to question whether this is actually a new appointment.
https://www.propertyindustryeye.com/proptech/proptech-weekly-52-2016s-top-proptech-stories-companies-and-people/
You have to wonder with focus obviously elsewhere whether Rickard’s actually got a good job done and whether there was an ulterior motive behind endorsements of Robert May’s software https://www.propertyindustryeye.com/prototype-property-sortal-launches-could-this-be-the-future/
This new appointment does seem to have sent the shares of PB into freefall.
Love it! =D
Living rent-free in your head too. Not much else going on in there mind.
This will very hopefully be a game changer – bring it on guys!
Something radicle had to come along and if RM (Robert May NOT rightmove!) and PB can come up with the goods to rid the industry of the money sucking leeches, this is very encouraging news indeed.
Sad little nobody’s who no one has ever heard of and never will, who stand for nothing other than their own self promotion. Go away boys, play your golf, no one cares what you think apart from your own egos’.
That’s no way to speak about Robert and Paul though many would agree I’m sure.
are you meaning this mornings negative contributers Chris or Rummage?
For clarity and for those too thick or deliberately obtuse to understand my post, I am referring to the hybrid and anonymous trolls on here having a go at Paul, Robert and the team who have already and will achieve far more for consumers and law-abiding agents in the past couple of years than the above posters are ever likely to in a lifetime.
For clarity I’m obtuse.
Now you’re being acute.
You obviously have the measure of him ! ( ARC/2πr )
Here we go! So I was right. PeeBee isn’t a businessman or a businesswoman! He is just a small shmuck with no track record in achieving anything meaningful in his life outside of writing comments about others!
Does it matter if he has not run a business? From the storey above it is about forging relationships which by the looks he has done for 40 years. Also he will be dealing with estate agents which again he has been for 40 odd years. Not really sure of the criticism being launched his way?
You seriously wrote that? Really over 40 years agency experience serving his local community and making sales to get people moving. He is an excellent communicator and passionate about what he does. I know this because I know him – do you?
Honest_Bloke….here’s some honesty for you. I can honestly say that comment is the most egotistical piece of pure vile I have read for some time. So anyone who happens to work in a business instead of own it is a shmuck are they? Peter Rollings before he went to set up Marsh and Parsons WORKED for someone Peter Coles who steered Romans to a huge buyout WORKED for someone.
If you’d like to publish your BUSINESS credentials then feel free and we can compare you but until then I suggest you take a good hard look at yourself and the comment you wrote this morning.
Apologies if I made that comment more generic. It was addressed to PB only. The reason I called him a shmuck because he acts like one! Nothing to do with his role or his job.
Honest_bloke
“The reason I called him a shmuck because he acts like one! Nothing to do with his role or his job.”
Suggest you read your post again:
“He is just a small shmuck with no track record in achieving anything meaningful in his life outside of writing comments about others!”
Your opinion. And one that you are perfectly entitled to – generations of our ancestors fought and died for the right of you and I to have an opinion and to be able to voice it and I am eternally grateful to them for that basic right.
Their efforts and sacrifice also affords me the right to reply.
1. Very few people can call me a small schmuck. I’m six-three and built like a brick outhouse. I’m a pretty big schmuck – if schmuck is what I am.
2. I achieve something meaningful every day. It might not be meaningful to you… or to some others… but it is to me and to other “others”, going back a long way and hopefully continuing into the future.
And I and the “others” I refer to are the only ones that matter, frankly.
3. My “track record” is not about making a name for myself. I am happy to be what I am in the industry I love – whatever that “what I am” is. Director… Manager… Negotiator… Tea-Boy. All jobs that need doing and doing well. I make a canny cup of tea, if I say so myself. I also negotiate the sale of properties quite well… and Manage/Direct in a way that I believe gets the best out of people.
What I don’t do is to take my feet off the ground when I climb up the ladder – I reach up it instead. I can touch every rung. I have even put my stamp on most of them.
But the minute that I think – or act like – a title is a measure of anything other than vanity I will have lost everything I have.
That you seem not to have remained grounded in what can only be your undoubted ‘achievement’ is, in my opinion, your problem.
And, sadly, a problem for those unfortunate enough to be deemed by yourself as beneath you – but I’m sure they will be perfectly aware of their own, invaluable, part in keeping you up that ladder where you are clearly happiest.
Jealous much Honest_bloke?
With all the self righteousness how will they ever get any work done.
Just watch and learn.
Super news. We all know Paul has the best interests of the industry at heart.
A true estate agent that knows what it’s like to trade in 2018.
Brilliant appointment.
Good luck to all involved. Looking forward to the launch.
couldn’t agree more
Thank you, smile please.
And HarryR65.
Looking good !
You’re clearly not talking about me, Mr Whale!
Not even 7.30 on a Monday morning and you two are trolling an industry website that you aren’t involved in……..
What an appointment, a guy who has dedicated 3 years of his life 10 hours a day attacking social media reps for PB, attacking LPEs abusively and thousands of tweets of anti PB rhetoric. Quite simply dumb founded. As CD has said, it will be interesting to see if this opens up legal recourse for PB I’m sure Rickards are glad to see the back of him, because let’s be honest how did he get any work done with his 200 tweets a day quota.
And he’s lived rent free inside your head for the whole time.
Chef’s kiss, PP.
cyberduck46 says 7 hours a day. DomPritch134 says 10 hours a day + 200 Tweets a day.
I think this perfectly sums up your maths accurately and explains why you faithfully accept fictitious figures when it suits you.
Hows it going over at PB lads? SP taken another nose dive. LPEs – 652 / 657 and then back to 651 this morning all inside of 10 days. It will be interesting to see what legal recourse gets opened up for PB and those that have vehemently supported it on the various forums. Have a nice day.
cyberduck46 says 7 hours a day. DomPritch134 says 10 hours a day + 200 Tweets a day.
I was merely being facetious, its actually 16400 tweets in 3 years, almost solely abusing the Customer Service rep of PB and LPEs a like.
It questions how much work he can actually be doing whilst keyboard bashing. Anyhow i’m sure at the new employer they can have a daily self righteous competition between them both.
Lost another 3 LPEs today. 648 LPEs.
PURP SP recovered some ground by close, dropping to 217 around 10am and then hovering at 220 for most of the day.
Another 2 x LPEs gone since yesterday.
646 LPEs
R101 They have half-a-dozen or so doppelgängers on their LPEs page – have you factored them out of your total?
No PeeBee I haven’t, but now you mention it;
Rob Furniss & Rob Furniss1
Tim Davis & Tim Davis1
Martin Paston & Martin Paston1
Karl O’Flynn & Karl O’Flynn1
Tam Du’Kett & Tam Du’Kett1 etc
Aye…
Funny what you find when you look hard enuff!
Congratulations to PeeBee on his new job after being Office Manager at Rickard Chartered Surveyors.
>Rickard Chartered Surveyors
I wonder whether this now opens his former employer up to having to substantiate claims and innuendo made by PeeBee via his forum and twitter?
So Robert May’s new company has recruited somebody who spends 7 hours a day checking on PurpleBricks. It will be interesting to see if PeeBee continues with his twitter account which is pretty much solely focused on PB.
Go away.
He won’t – he’s like a bad dose of herpes.
…Is there a good dose of herpes??? 🙂
“I wonder whether this now opens his former employer up to having to substantiate claims and innuendo made by PeeBee via his forum and twitter?”
My goodness you’re stupid.
Sincerely, best wishes to everyone involved. Sounds like a fascinating culture in the offing.
Thank you.
