This, to me, just comes across as looking bitter. The public are not interested in bitterness. Positive marketing is the way forward. The public would not believes this would happen to them and have no sympathy for agents. Evolve your business and move with the times. Maybe even offer a ‘no frills’ package to those that want that.
BUT… not as bitter and twisted as those who lie on national tv to innocent customers. Sure, you can have your sour grapes over the rebuttal, but let’s not avoid the fact that this ad wouldn’t have needed to be made if PB paid more attention to their duty of care.
No sour grapes here. Just name me one business that has succeeded by standing still and moaning about what others are doing. How many times do I have to say this – THE PUBLIC DONT CARE.
The public are a different matter and as members of it we all know inertia and distraction are a curse. The issue I have with PB is that they are exploiting that mindset to make loads of money at the expense of well-meaning customers. Blame RM and Z all you like but PB is a money-making machine that undermines the fair market.
As I see it, we are fighting the wrong people. We all created the monster that is RM and Z which in turn have facilitated the ability for companies like PB to operate.

The public do care about what sale price they achieve for their property. The problem at the moment is that the public are being misled into believing that if you pay £200 to £300 upfront to an inexperienced person, along with a few hundred more to a telephone and admin centre you are going to get the same result as you will by engaging a local independent knowledgeable experienced (LIKE) person whose total motivation is to achieve the very best sale result for you….. to maintain reputation and gain extra business!
The real truth of the matter is the online listers don’t care about the public, or about the jobs in little local businesses. They are only interested in maximising the value of their shares for their investors (including themselves). If they did care about the public they wouldn’t try and mislead, and they certainly wouldn’t try their best to ridicule and destroy other businesses for the sake of market share.
Yeah i agree, but come on…we ve all had someone just ring up and buy a house without us doing anything..what we really do is provide a genuine infrastructure that is being devalued by these online peddlers.
1) If the real estate agent structure disappeared and you had 10 purplebricks…life would be a nightmare for buyers and sellers.
2) Online industry try’s to devalue what a real esate agent has to do…sales chasing, viewings, relate lol,,
3) Employ local kids in often their first sales jobs.
4) Pay rates!!
The only winners of online are the owners and hedge funds….

Yes I agree…when I say the ‘very best sale result’ I like to think of it encompassing not just the higher sale price achieved, but the whole caboodle of contract chasing through to completion as well.
We do the lot for an average no sale, no fee of less than £2,000. We all know that by the time you add in the ‘investors money spent per listing’ and the money paid by listers that never sell…the average online listers fee PER COMPLETED SALE is higher than what we charge. This is also something we can ultimately educate people about!
To my mind every online lister who wants to claim they can save a vendor money on their sale fee, compared to full service high street agents (who pretty much generally work on no sale no fee), should be made to declare their AVERAGE FEE PER COMPLETED SALE…..otherwise you cant compare….simples!
We need all online listers to truthfully declare their FACS (Fee Average per Completed Sale)
Can’t recommend this enough to people. If we alll show enthusiasm in picking it up and using it, this could be the start of more to come. Let’s start getting some truth out there to counter misleading propaganda from the online listing fraternity.
