Around 2,500 people representing over 300 organisations marched on Westminster yesterday to demand an end to the housing crisis.
The rally, organised by Homes for Britain, called on the next government, regardless of its political hue or composition, to end the housing crisis within a generation and to draw up plans within its first year setting out how this will be achieved.
The Homes for Britain event began at noon when a hot air balloon resembling a giant house was floated on Parliament Hill at Hampstead Heath.
At Westminster, speakers included UKIP leader Nigel Farage, shadow communities secretary Hilary Benn, Tory party chairman Grant Shapps, Caroline Lucas of the Green party, and Ed Davy of the Liberal Democrats.
Other speakers include film director Ken Loach, the Bishop of Rochester, Shelter chief executive Campbell Robb, the TUC’s general secretary Frances O’Grady, and John Cridland, director general of the Confederation of British Industry.

Do they all want to live in westminster then?
Seeing its been organised by ‘Homes for Britain’ and they have made reference to Westminster on their poster, one would assume so.
And what entitles them to live in Westminster?!! If somebody pointed out to them Watford didn’t have a coastline, I could sell them a full terraced house for £30k!
