Jonny as a fledgling employee saw Emoov as a very successful company because of the “numbers” ,the people employed and the visitors arriving asking questions when we learn the reality was Quirk was caught up in a series of money raises without a coherent plan and ever wild increasing projections to hook the fish now competing with other offers for money.
The “crack cocaine”of money raises .No doubt Headphones is a consummate salesman winging it riding on a smile and a shoeshine
If you define “success”as reeling the money in he achieved that certainly but in the summer of 2018 a step too far .
Having exhausted the seasoned investors,running on empty. In the summer of 2018 as one last death roll he made a determined pitch to the low hanging fruit investors on Crowdcube
Promises are worse than lies with fanciful projections on the pitch
He gave vain hope when Emoov on the backfoot when they couldn’t see a few months ahead although investors told the investment was for marketing and an IPO .That was unforgiveable
Now confirmed that the company was only profitable for a fleeting moment when small scale before the portal charges increased from £700 pcm !

Lessons learned
Wasted a £1m on the tech and that he confirms that he didn’t possess the skillsets to run this all by himself and now wishes he had a partner -fair enough .
I bet his investors wished they knew that

Hounds do make the finest music in the countryside when onto a good scent 🙂 unfortunately Rusty lost the scent. Agents slate emoove a bit like when Sugar went down with amstrad and his jewellers (name escapes me right now Gold…) Thousands lost jobs but he has bounced back bigger and better and now helps people strive in business. These videos are not particularly interesting but honest. RQ you are not quite ready for an autobiography but keep believing …
The subtle difference of course is Sugar exited Amstrad profitably for £125m to BskyB in 2007 having enjoyed
years of substantial profits from first listing in 1980 .That is far from going down .
Sugar a self-starter from a council flat in E London and a market stall whilst Quirk heralds from a family history steeped in estate agency
If you knew the family you would know that they were workers not shirkers.
I am not sticking up for him and the reference to Sugar was more about the colossal job losses at the time. We always have said emoove were not proper estate agents and therefore the people who worked there were only trying to make a fast buck because they either didn’t ‘know’ the business or had failed to make the grade in agency.

Then that begs the question why the industry has participated in enabling Quirk to become in the public eye an expert albeit unqualified whose advice is keenly sought .
