London agency Martyn Gerrard has offered to waive all lettings fees for landlords who let their property to NHS workers on a short-term basis.

Simon Gerrard, past president of the NAEA and managing director of the well-known brand, said half a dozen landlords have already been in touch to offer their empty properties.

Gerrard told EYE he is still waiting for NHS workers to get in touch to fill the properties.

He also revealed he is planning to offer the agent’s Cyprus villa as a competition prize to NHS workers for a holiday once the pandemic has passed.

It is usually offered as a reward for agents.

Gerrard said the agency has furloughed 70% of its staff and has also successfully received a Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan.

He said: “I am not sure if I got it due to a good relationship with my bank manager or because I am pushy; probably a bit of both.

“Hopefully we can soon start earning an income again so it can all be paid back though.”
