Some Your Move offices are to open today.
Members of staff contacted EYE late last night, saying that they were shocked to receive calls after Boris Johnson’s ‘stay at home’ statement, telling them to attend work.
One, who said he had worked for Your Move for around seven years, said he was upset at having to go in, fearing this would contravene the new government instructions to stay at home. He said he had been told that it was to tidy up loose ends in the office.
Another told us that Your Move offices would be open across Kent. This employee was also extremely worried about having to go in and did not know whether today would be the final day for having to attend offices for work.
Another LSL employee was apparently told to go into work in their London office today, and “await further instruction”.
Late last night, a spokesperson for Your Move told EYE: “We are fully committed to supporting all government guidelines.
“Only a selected number of managers have been asked to visit their branch (for a short period of time) on essential business to secure some files and keys in support of customers. This is not a widespread directive.
“We have already closed our branches to visitors and our staff are now actively working from home.”

What is wrong with you people. Just stay at home for goodness sake. Work from home and follow the advice, no excuses or half ***** rationale
Sat in my office on my own with the lights off and the closed sign up, not involving anybody else… I’m here but not here if you see what I mean but definitely no appointments…
You can travel to work but just not having contact with the public, the social distancing rules still apply. So you can go into the office but should stay 2m apart.
All the comments above about activity including move ins and outs may be supersede by the announcement, just released by Propertyymark that agents are not essential workers and that house visits and move ins should not take place
Propertymark is not the government and nor is the civil service. At the present moment there is nothing official to say moves cannot take place etc.
Of course, that may change at any time.
The guidance is clear, and Estate Agents are NOT on the list of businesses to shut.
Neither are other professional service providers. E.g solicitors
However members of the public are NOT allowed to go view properties.
All staff should be 2 meters apart and members of the public should not be allowed in.
We have taken the decision to stop valuations and take ons for staff safety. But technically both allowed.
Despite the above I suspect surveyors and removal firms will start to drastically reduce availablity so no one will actually be able to more.
We planned this last week and had everything ready by Friday for full lock down not just partial.

Our office is shut, we prepared two weeks ago for this. If we need to go in, only one person goes, our telephones have been redirected and we are all connected to the servers. While not the same as being open we can look after the business we have at present.

We have made arrangements for all our telephone calls, to be diverted to the companies mobiles. All our staff have been provided with laptops and accesss to our systems. We are working as normal, whilst avoiding face to face contact with people, thereby complying with HM Government advice and guidance. This is serious stuff folks, non compliance will help spread this virus. Stay safe all.
A lot of confusion, but the advice is that travel to essential work is permitted and stay away from public transport. I personally will be supporting my branch who will be observing the close down, 12 hours (including sleeping) after the announcement, because it was only 8.30pm last night that the news broke.
Hardly disgraceful. My shop is open (with just me in it), but closed to walks in. Just be sensible. People still need to move into new homes etc and contractors collect keys for emergency maintenance.

Asking (telling) all your staff to come in at once is not…… this branch is closed to walk in custom … much more sensible.
My business … one in the office on a rota …all the rest fully in touch with our clients …

It is ‘contact’ that is the danger. If one person drives themselves to and from a place of work and has no contact with anyone else while there, then surely the risks should be minimal?
Exactly, this is not a total lockdown… you can go to work as I am along with my staff today, what office can simply down tools and walk away.
Everyone surely must have ongoing business to attend to whether sales or rentals, we have four sets of tenants moving in this week along with two exits think of the carnage if we we decided not to show !.
I can’t imagine people being asked to attend their offices for anything less than essential business, it’s not an apocalypse..well at the moment it’s not lol…

I informed my staff last night that we all are now working from home until further notice. This is the guideline that has been set and has to be adhered too.

Because of the status of estate agents not being essential it is illegal for members of the public to come to you, therefore you an accessory to a crime if they interact with you.
As I understand it, travelling to and from work is still allowed? One person in an office would be allowed as long as the office is closed to the public?
