The former head of country lettings at Savills has joined Keller Williams to run its new market centre in south Oxfordshire.
Tanya Blake, who was with Savills for 22 years, will be the operating principal of the latest Keller Williams outlet, to be called KW Oxygen.
Blake, who was previously based at Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, said: “I am incredibly excited to be opening a market centre in Oxfordshire, but what excites me the most is the ethos of the company to help agents build a better life for themselves and build successful businesses.
“I am looking forward to helping agents change their lives by using the systems and models Keller Williams have in place.
“I really believe there is a demand for this opportunity within our industry and I’m keen to share it with agents who want to build a career worth having.
“The culture and support here at Keller Williams has been incredible and joining them was an easy decision to make. ”
Ben Taylor, CEO of Keller Williams UK, said: “When the opportunity to work with Tanya presented itself, it really was a no brainer for us. Her expertise and knowledge are incredible.
“She has the drive and enthusiasm to run a very successful market centre, paired with the know-how to build and guide a team of agents around her.

American brand Keller Williams, which has described itself as a training company which happens to be an estate agent, launched in the UK in 2014. It says it is the largest real estate company in the world, adding that its business is built on relationships.
A message on its UK site says: “Should you be looking for a trusted tradesman or even a dog walker, we’re devoted to bringing you joy.”

My feed on LinkedIn is constantly filled with Keller Williams new recruits who seem to spend an inordinate amount of time interviewing each other about how great it is to be part of the “family” or a review of yet another inspirational traning session. Hands up how many of you have actually managed a single deal yet… So dreary.
Keller ‘juice plus’ Williams
Let’s be clear on the whole self-employed option for agents.
It will work for a small minority of individuals, the ultra proactive, well connected ones. The majority it will be a waste of time and effort and no doubt leave them with a considerable debt once they realise it will never work.
The reason it is gaining popularity is high street offices are now working on skeleton staff compared with 20 years ago. Much more can be automated. Couple this with fee erosion offices can no longer ‘Carry’ under-performing staff and want their pound of flesh. If employees do not turn in a shift. employers these days will pull the trigger faster to get rid of them. This means pressure is on the staff to perform at a high level for a consistent period. This leads to burnout and means they jump from employer to employer more regularly and ultimately finding the working conditions the same.
They then get sold a dream of a happy work / life balance, thinking they have been successful for X years in estate agency seems like a no brainer. Only to then find they actually have to work harder (we all know its not selling properties that is the hard bit running an agency its listing them).
The ironic thing is, if they are successful they are better off opening their own office!
I wonder if the posters saying we do not understand were the same ones telling us we did not understand online agency and we will go the same way as Blockbusters (Yawn) ……. isn’t it interesting all the individuals that left the online market are now in the self-employed agent market …..

Time will tell, but I don’t see it staying the course in the long run.
Amazed how many agents get sucked into this pyramid selling version of estate agency. If your business model is solely based on you tapping up your friends and family then you are going to have a short lived business. I would urge anyone looking at this to ask the question: How do you acquire your customers. If there answers is as above then you should stop immediately before you waste time and money on such a venture.
Just this morning I watched an interview with a KW individual and had to control my laughter over their supposed past. Think a little poetic license was used!
You are right to call it pyramid selling. They may as well sell Herbalife on the side.
