A landlord who reported an agent to police over missing deposit money has himself been reported to police.

Tony Molyneux claims to be owed £975 by Jonathan Waters Estate Agents, in Ipswich.

The company had been initially owned by founder Jonathan Waters, before being sold to Jane Russell. The company went into liquidation last year, allegedly with £30,000 of tenancy deposit money missing. Some 20 landlords have been affected.

Molyneux has written to Russell and police said he had told her that he would protest outside her home if the money was not returned.

Molyneux, who was reported to Essex Police, denies harassing her. The police have confirmed giving him a few words of advice.

He told the local paper: “I couldn’t believe it. More than £30,000 has gone missing from this company and nothing has been done about it but when I write to its director, I get reported for harassment.”

As we reported last week, Jonathan Waters has now started up a completely different estate agency, returning to the industry after a five-year break.
