HomeXperts, a property franchising business which has picked up a number of awards over the years, is to cease trading.

Sources say that administrators have been called in.

Some 32 outlets look to be currently listed, including in the home counties, the New Forest, Somerset, Cambridge, Warwick, Nottingham, Peterborough, Prestwich and Worksop and Worcester. The HomeXperts website itself says it has over 40 branches across the country.

It is also still advertising for new franchisees on the site, offering the opportunity to work from home with “extensive central office support” with the potential to “earn over £25,000 in invoiced commissions in a calendar month”.

Founder Sussanne Chambers confirmed to EYE at the weekend: “We recently tried to sell the HomeXperts franchise and despite initial interest from market leading property franchise brands, due to difficult market conditions, they were unable to incorporate the HomeXperts brand into their portfolios.

“Consequently the sad decision was made for the business to cease trading.”

Chambers founded the business in 2010. It went on to win best franchise in the Sunday Times awards two years in a row, while Chambers herself won woman franchisor of the year at the NatWest EWIF awards in 2016.

However, behind the scenes some franchisees were reportedly less than happy, setting up a ‘HomeXperts Scam’ blog which is still available online at https://homexpertsscam.wordpress.com/

According to court paperwork that EYE has seen, one former franchisee was awarded costs  at Coventry County Court on January 23 this year. The claimant, HomeXperts, was ordered to pay him £18,525 and did not attend court. The particulars of HomeXperts claim were struck out.

On Rightmove yesterday, HomeXperts had 43 available sales properties including two added on Saturday.
