The Welsh Assembly has followed Westminster in voting for a fees ban.
The Renting Homes (Fees etc) (Wales) Bill has passed its final stage, and the ban is now inevitable.
There were 42 votes for the ban and just one against.
It is likely to come into force this autumn.
In a separate move, Labour’s shadow housing secretary John Healey has announced that if the party comes to power it will introduce indefinite-length tenancies and ban so-called ‘no fault’ evictions.
Healey said: “People shouldn’t be living in fear of losing their homes.”

The shocking bit about this, is the Welsh kept this quiet from the industry and no consultation.
The bit that is not a shocker “….. if the party comes to power it will introduce indefinite-length tenancies and ban so-called ‘no fault’ evictions.” In one fell swoop they will loose landlords in droves. Every landlord I have spoken to in England and Wales say they will sell up …. no longer worth the hassle and its starting to look cheaper and less risk to have the property vacant while they wait for the right moment to sell.
The Welsh also have the “Well-being Future Generations Act 2015” which is a load of socialist mumbo jumbo that is intended to protect local communities. They have consistently fallen foul of this Labour controlled uptopia legislation, as they bring out other legislation that is completely add odds with well-being of communities.
John Healey has declared he wants to see less housing for renters and rising rents. Whilst he will not be investing in new replacement housing. back to the future hello rent act 1977. Labour want to ban mobility of labour and cause industry and NHS to NOT be able to employ or house key workers from abroad.
