An estate agency boss is recovering after being battered in a vicious hammer attack by intruders.
Tony Raffermati, 55, chairman of Bridges in Hampshire and Surrey, was at home when masked intruders climbed a ladder to break in.
He said he had to tell them that as an estate agent, he did not have a cash-based business.
However, they escaped with thousands of pounds worth of his own cash and credit cards.
Surrey police are investigating.
Raffermarti is well known in his area for his estate agency and also his support of charities.

In the last few decades the attitudes and behaviours of significant portions of Society have spiralled out of control and no-one is doing anything remotely effective to deal with it.
Hi AgencyInsider…I’d challenge that slightly, although I do agree on the whole.
In my experience Police and authority figures (such as teachers) do a lot to try and curtail those kinds of attitude and behaviours, taking positive action where needed. However, sadly they are often undermined by an impotent legal system which fails to adequately impose punishments, and parents who have lost control of their children and have no desire to regain it, creating a template for a lifetime of socially unacceptable behaviour.
Yes, agree all of that. My point is that if children are not taught about respect they may not behave decently and in the more extreme cases they will run out of control – thieving, knifing, etc etc. Police, teachers, etc should not have deal with the inevitable fallout of feckless parenting. T’was ever thus – but it feels extensively more prevalent these days.

Very sad state of affairs and one which is likely to become exponentially worse as those wayward children become adults and have children of their own. Not an easy situation to fix!
Terrible. Hope he has a speedy recovery and the attackers get caught. The guy is lucky to be alive or not brain damaged – what do they think hitting a person on the head with a hammer will do? jez. its likely to kill them. 10years inside min for them if I was running things.
