Fun loving estate agency brand EweMove has launched eight new openings in one month.
Despite serious expansion plans, it has not reined back on its trademark puns, continuing to describe its managing director as “head shepherd” and saying that the EweMove “flock” has grown.
It brings the total number of outlets to 126 across the UK.
The latest additions are: Kirkintilloch in East Dunbartonshire; Otley & Guiseley; Marlow & Maidenhead; Southgate; Luton Central; Hebden Bridge; Wakefield; and Watford North.
Head shepherd and managing director Nick Neill said: “As an agency proud to do things differently, we’ve always been open to welcoming on board people who bring the right attitude, drive and commitment to service, regardless of whether they bring specific estate agency experience to the role.
“As a result we’re proud to benefit from a hugely diverse range of people who each bring with them different expertise and experience, but who all ultimately have the same passion for delivering unrivalled service.
“Our long-term plan is to have a EweMove presence in every major city and town within the UK.”

Okay so you have 377 ‘Branches’
You state above in the last 12 months you ‘listed’ 4,053 properties
So each office is listing on average 10.75 properties a year.
Less than 1 per month.

…and then the article today (13/9) – to which I posted the following:
“…out of 377 outlets in the group currently, 263 are high street brands (the rest are EweMove outlets).”
When I went to school, 377 – 263 = 114.
114 EweMove “outlets” (bedrooms…potting sheds – sorry, of course I mean “live/work spaces…”, back seats of Ford Fiestas or whatever currently counts as an “outlet” these days in “disruptor-speak”, unless anyone else gets a different total to the Group CEO.
These bu99ers can’t count to save their lives! 114 today… 126 on Tuesday… 105 on Zoopla – sorry – that was yesterday’s branch count – just checked and today it’s 103!! You couldn’t make the feckin’ thing up!
There are a few Franchisees that have multiple branches and one I know has other brands also in the PFG group so I can see why the number of branches would not be the same as the number of Franchisees, the last I heard it was 127 branches. Some of these employ a lot of people over a range of property interests and you would not describe them as working out of a potting shed or bedroom. There are many “high street agents” that would aspire to have the many hundreds of rentals that a growing number in Ewemove now have and the Ewemove high street shop is becoming much more common so watch this space.

No doubt you will have seen the article today including some research TPFG has carried out.
In summary, we have grown our listings from 2,804 prior 12 months to 4,053 last 12 months. We have sold more of them than as a proportion than any other UK agent and we have reduced the price of fewer properties, by a lower amount and have sold and completed more of them as a percentage than anyone else, in a lower time period.
To achieve that and also enhance and maintain our position as the UK’s Most Trusted Agent on Trustpilot is an amazing achievement. Our franchisees are growing their businesses and winning market share faster than anyone else in the areas we operate and that includes outstripping PB in growth terms.
So I am very happy with our performance and growth. Whether that franchise has agency experience or not, we get it right and win business ahead of our local competition more often than not.
It is a pity, Sir, that people have taken the time and trouble to read the article and put extensive thought into posting comments and the best you can offer by way of response is simply regurgitating unsupported claims of performance metrics and passing them off as fact.
But – I guess it’s the best we’re going to get.
In the hope, however, that you’re in a generous mood and still reading this thread, I’d like to push it on a little with the following observations – in the hope that your kindness cup doth runneth over and pour out a response – me being ever the optimist and all that…

I have been with Ewemove a number of years and I have a very decent rental portfolio built from scratch, we have listed over £30,000,000 of houses for sale in a cheap part of the country in the last 12 months (September to August) and sold to date over £23,000,000 of that stock at 1% plus VAT or above. These are my figures and it is very true that a lot of Franchisees have struggled but is that not the same across the board ?
Ewemove is all about service and looking after the clients, you can train to be an agent but if you do not look after your clients you will not maintain a good business. Most of our work now comes from recommendation.
Finally I do have an office and Liveried vehicles, this may not be the Ewemove norm but it works for us.
Shame this story has fallen off the front page.
I notice down the other pub today Ewe move are bragging about a new 16 franches opening in the last year.
Still year on year franches are down. I guess not many are can make a living.
Just had a quick look on LinkedIn to see who’s who – ‘cos their website tells you bu99er all.
The first NINE people I’ve checked out seem to have within half an hour of 30 minutes’ property/Agency experience amassed between them before joining EweMove.
But it would fill me with all forms of warm and uncomfortably moist confidence if my local(ish) ‘Branch Director’ came lolloping up to me on an appraisal with outstretched hand and the opening line “I have 28 years experience in retail stock compliance working for blue chip companies….”
WHOOPPEEFRICKIN’DOO…

I’m confused. The EweMove website says “You won’t find any shiny-suited salespeople. With EweMove, you’ll have an experienced property expert who knows their local market and is loved by their customers.” but in the article above, their MD says “we’ve always been open to welcoming on board people who bring the right attitude, drive and commitment to service, regardless of whether they bring specific estate agency experience to the role.”
So which is it? Are they employing “experts” with experience and knowledge of the local market, or are they employing any old Tom, Dick or Harry as stated in the article above in which case their website is misleading at best, a downright lie at worst?

Some they listen to… some they ignore.

it was stated that

Mr Head_Shepherd#2 was quoted as saying that “the firm is focused on recruiting traditional, experienced agents.”
Apparently not as “able” as the are “focused”…

Please can you explain whether you are referring to new franchisees or actual property sales?

We have a press release statement from your company in February 2017 in an EYE article, Mr Head_Shepherd#2:
“Prospective EweMove franchisees are inquiring at the rate of 900 per month”.
It also stated “EweMove currently has 102 live franchisees, with five due to launch imminently “and a large pipeline” which consists of both experienced estate agents and people from other walks of life.”
SO… using the above… (assuming the five “imminents” all came on board)
In 18 months Ewemove have managed to recruit 19 new lambs – from an existing “large pipeline”, plus what could potentially add up to over 16000 new enquirees.
That’s BIIIIG numbers of unsuitable applicants. Maybe EweMove need to alter their recruitment message.

Even your ‘advertorial’ says you take people on with no agency experience.
If i was to open a new office tomorrow, there is not a chance i would leave it to somebody to run who has never worked in the industry. To be honest if they do not have 5 years experience i would reject them.
I keep asking the question but what percentage of franchises are still trading with the original owner on the third anniversary?
Just taking a snapshot of the “offices” you have shows how dismal the outlook is for franchises, many do not even have double digit properties to market.
They must have a second job to support them, hardly a professional outfit with a chap working from the dining room table having to leave at 3pm to do the school run and back in time for his pizza delivery shift!

How do you think that the following, lifted from an EYE article last November, fits with your snapshot:
‘Nick Neill, managing director of EweMove, said: “A staggering 83% of those who have been trading in full for the last year are earning over £40,000 in commission – with the highest commission achieved by an agent within the past 12 months soaring past the £500,000 mark”.’
Would love to see the evidence.
Also 40k in commission with the outgoings means they would be better off delivering the pizza full time!
