A firm of estate agents whose office is very close to a river has been praised for its quick-thinking part in saving a woman in the water.

Shepherds Estate Agents, of Riverside House, Mill Bridge, Hertford, sent out their boat to help in the rescue mission.

The woman had been seen in the water by Nathan Baker, a 25-year-old homeless man. He called the police before jumping into the river.

Shepherds sent out their boat for Baker to cling on to, and it was later used by police to get to the woman.

Initially, the woman was seen clinging to the side of the bank before floating off under a bridge.

Chief Insp Gerry McDonald thanked all those involved in the rescue, including Baker and Shepherds Estate Agents.

If you are not quite sure why an estate agent should have a boat, here’s a picture of their office by the river.

It’s not surprising that this is a firm that has good customer reviews and has picked up various awards.
