A quiet protest against the state of the housing market is being planned – to cover up estate agents’ signs with art.
It is being organised as part of the Antiuniversity Now Festival by artist Vladislava Predelina, who is concerned about high rents and selling prices.
A workshop will involve making artworks to cover up estate agents’ boards, and which will emphasise the value of a property as a home, rather than its monetary value.
The workshop, ‘An Invitation to Replace Estate Agent Signs with Art’, is due to take place on June 9 in south-east London.
We don’t know how agents will feel about their boards being covered up, but those with properties for sale or let in the vicinity of Ormide Street, London SE15, might like to keep a watch. The workshop’s itinerary is first to make the artwork, and then to go for a walk with the new signs.

Here is a question.
When was the last time you valued a property for sale or let and the owner truly had no idea of price they want to achieve?
When was the last time you valued a property the owner did not want 10% over market value and they actually listened to you on the price it should be marketed for.
Price are not dictated by estate agents.
Anyone know Vladislava Predelina’s address? I think I’ll go round there and paint the word, ‘****’ over each of his windows as a peaceful protest against Captains of the United Netball Team everywhere…..

Don’t know about anyone else but I’m getting fed up with us being blamed for just providing a service to people that move home.
Have they thought of painting the side of a removal van instead? Knowing some of the people in that business I doubt they’d resort to a County Court claim

ElBurro, I know how you feel! Now having reached pensionable age I am hated as I will need to use the NHS more than before. I am a landlord and therefore seen by sometimes stupid politicians and certain charities as a drain on society for investing in homes for others; and dare to get a return on that investment for many years of hard work. I also have a disabled step son who receives benefits which so far I have had to take the DWP to HMCTS appeals on no less than 8 occasions due to government telling DWP refuse benefits, even to those dying! I no longer have any political party to vote for! despite which I still vote as a duty. The conservatives are stuffing landlords; Labour wants to assinate and bury landlords. All parties have behaved badly with the NHS. The conservatives have been blood curdlingly brutual to disabled people. Corbyn has split society and opened a divide between the generations as part of his political game for gain (of votes). This is why I now consider all poticians to be self serving scum.
Sounds like criminal damage to me.
Not to mention the fact that agents have a negligible affect on prices and rents.
Painting on boards is like graffiti-ing the dictionary because it has swear words in it.
It also looks as if it is also incitement to commit criminal damage. Perhaps agents should defend their boards with paint ball guns in order to defend their property in an artistic manner?
