The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has set out its current research priorities, with fixing the ‘broken property market’ at the top of the list.

The Government department said its research would focus on developing an over-arching strategy for housing and planning policy evaluations and tracking the longer-term impact of different policies to support home-ownership such as the Help to Buy equity loan scheme.

It also said it is focused on gaining a understanding of the position of private landlords and their tenants by setting up a new private landlord survey.

Strangely, there was no mention of research into forthcoming proposals to further regulate the estate and lettings agency sector.
