Scottish Property Solicitor Centres have gone on the offensive against online and independent agents to highlight the benefits of their services – the well-established traditional way by which properties are both marketed and transacted in Scotland.

SPC Scotland offers a network of property centres that provide a ‘one stop shop solution’ for  buyers and sellers.

It has now disclosed its own completion rates to show how its property centres perform and found that 84% of  listings sold last year in Edinburgh and 72% in Glasgow. These rates should climb as to include those properties that as of now are still under offer. In Scotland it is rare for sales to fall through once an offer has been accepted.

SPC Scotland said this was evidence that firms offering agency and legal services do better than independent agents and online offerings. It comes after Jefferies questioned Purplebricks’ completion rates.

John O’Malley, a network member at Pacitti Jones, said: “We believe that clients significantly benefit from selling though solicitor property centres.

“Not only do they have a proven higher success rate than certain other estate agents, we are also able to look after our clients all the way through the process, including managing their conveyancing.

“This provides a far stronger customer bond and helps us provide a superior service to our customers.

“We cover the whole process and our service does not end once a property is listed online, which is the case with some.

“A strong regulator also gives clients peace of mind that they will get a professional and trusted service.”
