Meller Braggins, a five branch estate agency firm in Cheshire, has joined OnTheMarket.
Established in 1836, Meller Braggins has offices in Knutsford, Wilmslow, Northwich, Stockton Heath and Macclesfield.
The firm will now be listing all of its properties for sale and to rent at OnTheMarket and Rightmove. It has removed its properties from Zoopla.
OnTheMarket announced last month that overall support for the portal had reached in excess of 7,000 UK estate and letting agent offices. This figure includes offices which are contracted and those which are covered by letters of intent to join Agents’ Mutual and to list on OTM when overall support exceeds 7,500 offices.
Richard Greenham, director of Meller Braggins, said: “We’re pleased to back Agents’ Mutual which aims to place control of property advertising back into the hands of agents by disrupting the duopoly of Rightmove and Zoopla. We think buyers, tenants, sellers and landlords will see the benefits of an ad-free site.
“OnTheMarket has grown throughout the year and we look forward to seeing its influence and market share continue to expand.”
Helen Whiteley, commercial director of OTM, said: “It is great to see another multi-branch firm throw their weight behind OnTheMarket.com as we work towards our next milestone of gaining the support of 7,500 offices.”

I have to say I am finding the growth of OTM amongst independent estate agents is quite staggering and, certainly in the part of the country I live in, any town I visit, I see estate agent shop windows covered in RAF logos.
I agree with RealAgent, we see in many towns in the North East the independents supporting OTM with the RAF logos in their windows remaining despite, I believe, these were only really intended to be used for the initial launch period. Those same supporters do not, it would appear push the Rightmove brand. As a firm, we also removed all of the Rightmove branding from our office and window displays.
Support has been strong throughout the North East since the initial meetings prior to launch.
I wish OTM every success as I am wanting to protect my future business, and who cares what the new agents are paying – get them on board now before Z ties them into long term contracts. This was discussed at the meetings and this was the general consensus of most attendees !
Its hardly suprising, no self respecting self employed person could possibly like doing business with RM. Surely we are in business to be in control of our destiny, not to be financially bullied and feel forced into situations. When the ability to negotiate reasonably with any supplier or client ends then things have gone too far.
Would love to see their contract. Apparently they are down to zero now!
As Zoopla were when they were trying to establish themselves against Rightmove then.
I’ve not heard that before, please provide evidence of this? I don’t believe this is the case, and are making this up.
Would not surprise me, but does it matter? its more agents more stock on OTM that is not on Z – Only helps the greater good.
We were definitely offered Zoopla and Prime Location on a three month trial for nothing. We tried it but neither were any good. WE are now stuck with Wrongmove.
There don’t seem to be any free offers available today but this is very good news for OTM
Zoopla was free to list and charged per lead.
