A new online agent is officially launching this week, primarily into the London market, after securing investment.

MyKeyLocation is starting a year-long radio advertising campaign in the capital but has national ambitions.

The website went live last year but has so far been a part-time venture.

It has listed a few properties, and its most recent sale was a two-bedroom apartment in Watford.

Managing director Ross O’Connell said: “Our company ethos is to offer a low-cost, ethical, effective, friendly and professional service that gives sellers the ability to take control of the sale process.

“It is targeted at any home seller because the full support is there all the way through the process to completion of sale.

“What sets us apart from other online agents is that we offer a package that is the same a a traditional estate agent, and we are different from traditional estate agents because of our low fixed fees.”

O’Connell, who says he left his job in teaching because of his belief in the online business, said that the backer does not want to be identified, but that the investment is sufficient to cover all marketing costs, including the radio campaign, with further investment once the venture is off the ground.

He said that the business also has a consultant who has and still runs a successful traditional estate agency.

There are three packages: £499 upfront; £890 on completion of the sale, where customers conduct their own viewings; and £1,190 on completion of the sale where accompanied viewings are included in the price.

With all three packages, customers have professional photography and details; full account management and sales progression; and listings on both Rightmove and Zoopla.

The business is partnered with a legal firm, Hopkins Law solicitors, which offers conveyancing at preferential rates, from £299 plus VAT and disbursements. However, customers are not tied to having to use the service.

It aims to cover the whole of the UK. Yesterday, on Rightmove, it listed six properties for sale, all in Wales.
