A new online agent that has started advertising in prime time TV slots as a “genius way” to sell your home has a familiar name at its helm – Quirk.

However, the director of Homeseller, which is also advertising on the Underground, is not Russell Quirk but his cousin Anthony, 48.

The pair were in business together in the limited partnership of a family high street agent, Quirk Deakin, until 2008.

Russell Quirk went on to set up eMoov while today Anthony Quirk still has three high street estate agency businesses as well as his new online enterprise.

Anthony Quirk’s Homeseller lists properties on Rightmove and Zoopla, and costs £695 including VAT for the first six months, paid upfront.

A further six months costs £120.

According to Rightmove, Homeseller has 16 sales properties listed, of which six are available.

The longer-established eMoov has over 1,000 properties listed on Rightmove. It charges £595 upfront including VAT, or £1,195 at completion, on a no sale, no fee basis.

At the weekend, eMoov had attracted over £2.3m from nearly 700 crowdfunding investors.

Russell Quirk confirmed the family connection.

EYE called Homeseller twice and left messages for Anthony Quirk, as we were keen to speak to him, including asking him if he plans to go down the crowdfunding route.
