More and more agents are turning to cloud technology to deliver their IT solutions.
The Property Software Group says that the emergence of Software-As-A-Service (SaaS) – Cloud, often referred to as cloud technology – is the biggest single technology shift in the industry for 25 years.
PSG says that 40% of its client base now has SaaS solutions in little over 18 months.
However, PSG claims that “many” traditional desktop providers are positioning their legacy product as being ‘in the cloud’ when in reality they are using a hosted solution provider.
Mark Goddard, CEO of PSG, said: “A hosted solution gives the impression it can deliver the same benefits of the cloud, but the reality is very different.
“There is no quick way to create a SaaS product. You have to start from scratch and this takes a lot of time and a lot of money.
“Any software provider who magically starts offering a SaaS / cloud solution should be questioned.”
Goddard claimed that “there are very few that have the necessary track record and commercial credibility to be trusted”.
PSG, which includes cloud products Alto and Jupix in its portfolio, has over 215 staff supporting over 38,000 users across 8,500 estate agency branches.

What a load of nonsense. Are you really claiming SaaS cloud or whatever you call it, is the biggest technology shift in the last 25 years?
Is it more significant than say…..The internet, Windows PC’s, or mobile phones

I’m aware that the 3 may have been invented prior to 1993 but my comments were addressing the stupid claim that it’s the largest technology shift, meaning adoption by the masses I assume.
I got my first PC at home in 1997, in my agency office it was 2000, the same year Rightmove was founded.
I think its also fair to say mobile phones were adopted by the masses in the late 90’s and the iphone has amazingly only been with us for 8 years.
All of those things changed the way we do business in the last 25 years.
But of course this cloud thingy is bigger than all of those 😉

In the property software industry, that of which Property Software Group specialises in, the move to cloud-based software is the largest shift in 25 years. As more agents move away from cloud-based software (supported of course, but the internet and smart-phones, lap-tops and tablet devices) the property software industry has had to increasingly develop software to access on-the-go, wherever agents are 🙂
