Staff members at Purplebricks face potential redundancies, after the business entered a consultation process with employees this morning.
The online estate agency announced the news to employees a short while ago, with the proposals potentially impacting roles across the business.
It is not yet clear which roles at the business are potentially under threat, but Purplebricks CEO, Helena Marston, has today written to employees informing them that several employees will now enter a consultation process.
She says that over the course of today, staff members will be invited to a meeting to inform them whether the process affects their position. See message below.

Agreed, agents got lazy, pb came in and shook up the market and agents have been after blood ever since!

Having been made redundant by these guys a while back please read your contract around notice periods. They tried to only pay me 1 months pay when they actually owed me 3 months. Good luck to everyone and just remember you are leaving on a life boat, others will not be so lucky.
Look Purple Bricks have run their business with other people’s money and in a questionable way.
While redundancies are never good and I feel for anyone who loses their job in any industry.
I will be glad to see the back of them or glad to see them have to balance the books and compete with their own money, cash flow.

Purplebricks and their agents should have paid heed to Jimmy Durante’s words of wisdom……

They’re just not any good, simple as that.
For the individuals, of course it is the worst news possible, I doubt anybody could be unfeeling towards that. But as a business they are still punting the cringeworthy commissary advert out AS WE SPEAK!! That’s outrageous when your own position is financially unviable, they deserve to go.
It really isn’t Barnabus, if you are a competent individual, not a ‘job for life’ journeyperson, then often a redundancy payout and a new start is a positive. Particularly when you took a punt working for a firm that has dubious credentials and operates in cyclical markets. ‘Worst possible news’ is something entirely different, think about it.
Can someone advise me where the money is coming from to pay for PB’s latest tv advertising campaign?
Customers’ fees? Investors? That German company that keeps throwing money into the Purplehole?
Get out much Ethical Agent? Nothing written above comes anywhere close to your slant, if there is a joke it is clearly aimed at the corporation, who deserve every bit of ridicule. You really do need to grow a backbone or stick to more tame reading than a business website.

Half of the comments would not be said face to face, or would even be appropriate for face to face.
Yet people feel it is ok to do it here.
Ill take the criticism…. for one I know I have morals and ethics.
You should think hard and fast about what you say and the impact you have on people.
In times where there is the cost of living crisis / people are struggling – both mentally and economically.

To be fair, this has been a long time coming and is not a surprise to anyone. If anything it’s a surprise it’s taken so long… but this was always going to be the end result.
PB as a company made it their “mission” to put other agents out of business and to an extent they succeeded with some. So you’ll have to excuse us as somewhat apathetic to their plight. It’s not great, however capable employee’s will surely find other roles and succeed with better, more reputable companies.
PB itself however, I am not sad to see the beginning of their end.

To be blunt, the employees have happily made fun of other agents and vendors being stupid enough to pay commission. How they laughed at those who did not use Purplebricks. If, after the lettings debacle they have not seen the writing on the wall, well then tough. I am not an unfeeling person, having been made redundant by Darlows who then went into liquidation just before Christmas. As for suggesting we have no morals or ethics, what a snowflake you must be. Is bubblewrap at the top of your Christmas list?

I am sure they will in a market that is going to get much harder
I have never used PB as it does not suit me but the snowflake is the one who is unable deal with competition and whines about it
I second AcornsRNuts’ comment. How many professional estate agents have gone out of business because PB drove fees down with empty promises and subpar service?
Despite the writing on the wall when Helen Marston joined, PB’s disdain for estate agents and homemovers leads me to feel very little sympathy.

They were not good enough to sell their services well enough to get a higher fee
They’ve never hit above a 5-6% market share across the country yet supposedly ‘put other agents out of business’ along the way? If you were put out of business, it wasn’t because of PB with that market share!
I would start with the board.
Every time they post on Facebook, they get a backlash. Their Twitter page is awash with complaints and their lettings division is beyond dreadful. I don’t blame the poor souls who may lose their jobs as we head towards Christmas, its the structure & culture which is at fault.
