Well-known industry figure Sean Newman, who runs a self-employed business model for estate agents and mortgage advisors, and is not a man who does things by halves, recently took his top performers on an all-expenses paid trip to Dubai in recognition of their hard work and achievements for their clients.
The video shows a jam-packed 5-day trip with activities including dune buggies, jet skis, a luxury 56ft yacht trip around The Palm, beach clubs, golf, and a morning at the world’s highest 360-degree infinity pool, the Aura Skypool.
Newman says: “I know how hard they work, so it was great to give everyone a well-deserved break and say a big thank you for their efforts. At the end of the video, they say what they thought to the trip, so it was lovely to hear everyone enjoyed themselves and had an amazing time.
We will be having another trip next year which is open to everyone in the company, so I am sure this video will inspire others and I look forward to taking an even bigger group to Dubai next year”.
EYE reckoned it looked like a great trip – for the lads. So we asked why there was no sign of any ladies.
Newman replied that:
“We have 108 Partner Agents, 65 male and 43 are female. The dates didn’t work for all the Top Performers so some Partner Agents couldn’t make the trip including 2 females. We hope to see more women on the trip next year.”

To answer some of the points raised
The reward was a 5-day all-expenses paid trip to Dubai
Once the winners were announced, they were asked what activities they would like to do.
The activities were all optional and people were free to do none of them, all of them, or do their own thing.
We accommodated everyone’s requests.
One of the winners wanted to go to Dubai with their partner on a different date, which they were able to do.
My goal was to make sure everyone who went had a great time and did exactly what they wanted to do.
Well done Sean! Please pass on my congratulations to everyone.

Read the article then watched the video. Then read the comments. completely agree with SKG.
At first I thought, why is our industry press publishing an article that is purely there to advertise a franchise and try and entice people to join it. This isn’t industry news.
I watched the video, and thought, how many women would want to go on a trip like that? Yes lots would probably enjoy those activities that are typically considered male, as well, but how many women would be comfortable being in swimwear around male colleagues.
I would actually like to hear from the 43 female partners what they think of the trip, is it something that they wanted to go on or did they opt out as they knew it was a boys trip.
Well for what it’s worth i say WELL DONE and congratulations to Sean and his fantastic team of high performing Partner Agents…

Two words: Carbon Footprint.
The fact that Sean’s female high performers were unable to make the trip speaks volumes. It seems lost on him however ‘we hope to see more women on the trip next year’. I hope he is also promoting reward mechanisms that his high performers can benefit from.
These trips for high performers are much more weighted towards men, they haven’t moved on in years. I’ll get shot down for generalising here but the activities are much more ‘male’ orientated. Men are much more likely to be able to (and want to) up-sticks for 5 days and leave family and any caring responsibilities.
I hope the high performers that couldn’t go received a cash amount that equalled the cost of the trip for them to enjoy as they wish. After all it’s about rewarding their high performance in whichever way works for them.
