Average asking prices for properties coming freshly on to the market have hit an all-time high of £255,962, Rightmove said this morning (Monday).

It beats the previous peak of £253,658 set last July by nearly 1%.

Rightmove alaso says that property supply is recovering, with a total of 114,996 new properties listed in the last four weeks, up 3.4% on a month ago, and up 8.7% on March last year.

The portal said that the only regions where there has not been a “substantial” jump in supply are the flood-hit south east and south west. East Anglia has an 8.9% annual increase, but is the only other region where there has been a sub-10% rise in property supply.

Rightmove’s asking price of £255,962 compares with the latest prices from Halifax and Nationwide, at £179,872 and £177,846 respectively.
